Some Arducam cameras show colored noise and no image on Raspberry Pi 5

Hello,
I am having a problem with several Arducam TOF cameras connected to a Raspberry Pi 5.

Some cameras work correctly, but others only display an image full of small colored dots or colored noise. They never produce a normal camera image.

I also performed a simple test using my phone’s camera. I pointed the phone camera at the sensor while the Arducam camera was running. On the cameras that work correctly, I can see a small infrared light coming from the sensor. On the cameras that show only colored noise, I cannot see this light.

I tested the cameras using the same Raspberry Pi, connection, cable, software, and configuration. Because some cameras work and others do not under the same conditions, I suspect that the affected camera modules may have a hardware problem.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? Could this indicate a damaged sensor, infrared emitter, power problem, or defective camera module?

It sounds like a hardware failure of some sort, and I did receive similar feedback from other customers.

How many Arducam ToF units do you have that you cannot see an infrared light on?

I purchased 10 cameras in total, and this issue has happened with 3 of them. They worked correctly at first, but the problem appeared after some time in use.
