Shoot still photo in sync with two SPI cameras

  1. What help do you need?

Hello,

I am trying to get two inexpensive cameras to shoot still frames in complete sync. Not video. Just a single frame.

Is there a way to do it with existing SPI cameras? Can I connect them to two MCUs and then send a signal to shoot at the exact moment or is some advanced triggering needed? (FSIN / Strobe / ?)

I have ordered Arducam Megas from Kickstarter hoping I can get still sync working.

Thank you for any help you can offer. Exact sync is important because I am shooting a subject in motion.

Best,
Ian

Hi,
You can connect them to two MCUs and then send a signal to shoot at the exact moment, but notice, the cameras are not fully
synced, due to different clock source.
the SPI camera does not support fully synced, but when you send take picture command, both of then will take picture at the same time but not fully synced.
Hope what I said will help you. Feel free to let me know if you need more help.

Thank you for your reply. Are you able to sell clock sync’d cameras that can connect to a simple MCU such as ESP32?

Sorry.
Currently none.
