Levelshift Arducam Mega 5MP

  1. Where did you get the camera module(s)?
    Digikey

  2. Model number of the product(s)?
    B0401

  3. What hardware/platform were you working on?
    Zephyr RTOS, nRF54LM20B

  4. Instructions you have followed. (link/manual/etc.)

  5. Problems you were having?
I can’t get the camera to respond when going through a level shifter.
Camera works great with direct connection at 3.3V, but i have to configure the IO voltage to 1.8V to connect the rest of the system.

  6. The dmesg log from your hardware?

  7. Troubleshooting attempts you’ve made?
    Two different bi-directional level shifters.

  8. What help do you need?
Do you have any advice on what level shifter i can use? The configuration of my setup forces me to do comms at 1.8V, but i have a 5V USB supply for the camera.

Hi there,
Thanks for the detailed information. Since the camera works correctly with a direct 3.3V connection, the camera itself appears to be functioning normally.

The issue is more likely related to the 1.8V level-shifting path or its electrical characteristics.

Could you share the part numbers of the level shifters you tested, along with a simple schematic showing which camera signals are being level shifted and the pull-up voltages used on each side? If possible, please also let us know the communication frequency.

With that information, we can check whether there are any obvious compatibility concerns or whether we have a level-shifting approach we can recommend.

Hey Dion, thanks for the quick response!
I’m using sparkfuns TXS0108E bi-directional level shifter breakout. I also tried with some generic bi-directional level shifter.
The following is my TXS0108E setup.
