External trigger

Hi,

I saw this page: https://www.arducam.com/arducam-ov9281-mipi-1mp-monochrome-global-shutter-ir-camera-module-for-jetson-nano.html

And also this one: External Trigger Mode - Arducam Wiki

They both talk about the OV9281 camera. But on the supported camera list, I see three other camera models mentioned at the top, and then later it talks about OV9281. This part is a little confusing to me.

My camera module says “788 Rev B” on the board, and it has an XVS pin. I would like to use external trigger, but I don’t understand how to enable it with this XVS pin. When I try to check for “trigger_mode” using v4l2-ctl it says not found.

Can you please help explain how to use external trigger with this version?

Thank you very much!

For reference, it’s this one: Arducam B0223 OV9281 1MP Global Shutter NoIR Camera Module for Jetson, 61,90 €

The page says it should support an external trigger.

It seems like the camera is actually on subdev2 on the raspberry pi 5. I can turn on the external trigger (setting it to 1), but the script in the docs still doesn’t work, the camera just keeps going without waiting for the trigger, even with the timeout in the env variable.

Hi,
Did you connect the low-level signal(GND) to GDN pin on the camera board?

Thanks @Dion , yes, I connected the GND pins, but I still can’t figure out how to get the trigger working. I tried the scripts also on a Jetson now and I have the same issues, it doesn’t wait for the timeout. I sent some logs to the support email.

Hi @milkchoco
I’ve been updating the docs for trigger mode on Raspberry Pi 5. I’ll inform you once I’m done. Thank you for your patience:smiley:
