B0390 issues with focus

  1. Where did you get the camera module(s)?
    Uctronics (V3Link kit for RPi)

  2. Model number of the product(s)?
The kit is B0491. The camera module in the kit should be B0390.

  3. What hardware/platform were you working on?
    Raspberry Pi4

  4. Instructions you have followed. (link/manual/etc.)
    Online docs.

  5. Problems you were having?
The specifications here says the minimum object distance to have a decent focus is 200mm, but it doesn’t seem the case in my tests. Attached is a shoot taken at a distance of 200mm. The numbers on the ruler are completely blurred.

  6. The dmesg log from your hardware?

  7. Troubleshooting attempts you’ve made?
I tried to increase the distance to 300mm, but it’s the same. The target object is out of focus.

  8. What help do you need?
Why this camera module isn’t able to take photo at a distance of 200mm as described in the technical specs? Could you suggest another camera model?

My goal is to have a picture of a 20x13cm paper at a distance of 100-200mm from the camera. Of course, the objects on the paper should be focused.

Hi,
Please contact [email protected] for further information.

I did. I hope to receive updated information here or by email.

Anyway I think it could be useful to others knowing why B0390 isn’t able to focus an object at a distance of 200mm.
