Auto exposure - exact meaning?

What exactly does that mean? Is it possible to set the aperture/iris in some intervall (F/2 - F/16 for example)? Or does it only mean, that i can set the exposure time?

I want to make pictures from the sky (cloud bodys) - but the constant changing exposure conditions make it pretty hard to get constant good pics. so i want to go for a cam with the possibility to control the iris via raspi.

I would be very grateful for every tip. I’m new here and I’m looking forward to being part of the community.

At present, the automatic exposure on the Raspberry Pi only supports automatic adjustment of the exposure time and gain to achieve the appropriate brightness, and does not support the adjustment of the aperture.
