Arducam B0466N not working with Jetson Orin Nano JetPack 5.1.3

Hey everyone, I’m having trouble getting my Arducam B0466N 12.3MP HQ Camera Module to work on my setup.

I’m running an NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kit with JetPack 5.1.3. The camera just doesn’t seem to be recognized at all — I’ve connected it but I’m not getting any video output and it doesn’t show up when I try to use it with nvargus or any of the camera tools.

Has anyone run into this? Not sure if I’m missing a driver or if there’s some configuration step I overlooked. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi there, sorry to hear you’re having issues with the B0466N on your Orin Nano.

Before we dive into deeper troubleshooting, could you help me gather a couple of things?

First, could you share a clear photo of how the camera is physically connected to your board? Sometimes connection issues are easy to spot visually.

Second, I’d like you to generate a system bug report so I can check your device tree, kernel logs, and camera-related configurations. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Reboot your device so we’re working from a clean state
  2. Download the bug report tool:
wget -O arducam-camera-bug-report-nvidia https://github.com/ketai-dhr/arducam-camera-bug-report/releases/download/tools/arducam-camera-bug-report-nvidia
  1. Make it executable:
chmod +x ./arducam-camera-bug-report-nvidia
  1. Run it:
sudo ./arducam-camera-bug-report-nvidia

This will generate an arducam-bug-report.txt file in your current directory. Please attach that file here along with the photo and I’ll take a look.

Thanks for the quick response. Here’s what I got:

I rebooted and ran through the steps you provided. The bug report tool ran without any errors. Here’s the output file:

arducam-bug-report.txt

And here’s a photo of my setup showing how the camera is connected:

Let me know if you spot anything. I’m pretty stumped on this one.

Thanks for sending those over — the photo was really helpful in pinpointing the issue.

Looking at your hardware connection picture, it appears that the carrier board you’re using is actually a third-party board, not the official NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kit. This is almost certainly the root cause of the problem.

Arducam cameras are designed and validated against the official NVIDIA developer kit hardware. Third-party carrier boards often have different pin mappings, CSI lane configurations, or power delivery setups that can prevent the camera from being properly detected — even if the physical connector fits.

Here’s what I’d recommend as a next step:

  • If you have access to an official NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kit, please try connecting the Arducam B0466N to that board and see if it works. This will help us determine whether the camera itself is functional or if the issue is purely the third-party board’s compatibility.

  • If the camera still doesn’t work on the official kit, we can dig further — but we need to rule out the carrier board variable first.

Unfortunately, compatibility with third-party carrier boards isn’t something we can guarantee or support directly, as there are just too many variations out there. Let us know how the test on the official kit goes.
