Bought the bundle (Sku B0397) from Arducam last week, installed today on my recently purchased Pi 5/16G with Bookworm 64 bits. Follow the instructions to update the config.txt, but when run “libcamera-still --list-cameras”, it reports “No camera available”.
I am also struggling with quad cams, although in my case it is the Multi-Camera Adapter. I tried posting my problems, but no responses so far.
Is your CamArray HAT plugged into the CAM0 or CAM1 port of Pi5?
In /boot/firmware/config.txt, what does your dtoverlay line look like?
After booting, do you see anything in dmesg | grep imx?
Did you double check that the orientations of all of the cable connections are correct?
Do you have all four cameras plugged into the HAT? I recall (?) seeing that it doesn’t work unless all of the cameras are plugged in.
I have all four camera connected, and the HAT is plugged in CAM0, and the settings in config is as follows:
camera_auto_detect=0
dtoverlay=camera-mux-4port,cam0-imx477,cam1-imx477,cam2-imx477,cam3-imx477
I also just test the camera (directly connect the camera to my Pi 5 and can’t recognize the camera.
For the quadrascopic camera kit, the cameras cannot operate standalone, so connecting the camera directly will not work: “The four-channel camera is a customized model, requiring HAT to provide a clock. It cannot be removed and is [sic] directly connected to the Raspberry Pi.”
Your quadrascopic kit includes the “CamArray HAT”. I think the dtoverlay with “camera-mux-4port” you used above is for the Multi-Camera Adapter, not the CamArray HAT.
Try:
dtoverlay=imx477,cam0
BTW, for Pi5 (with two CAM ports), the documentation says that CAM1 is the default, so if your HAT is connected to CAM1, you’d simply use:
dtoverlay=imx477
Seriously, make sure your cable connections are facing the correct way. I finds these cables super-confusing. If you look at the Camera Connector section in Quick Start - Arducam Wiki, you’ll see that some boards use top-contact and some use bottom-contact connectors. It is very difficult for me to tell which way to put the cables.
Does a red LED on your CamArray HAT light up when you turn on the Pi?
Also, the very first thing you should do after booting is check dmesg | grep imx. If you see nothing, that means that your config.txt (i.e. dtoverlay) is wrong. If you see an error message about imx477, that could be a cable connection issue.
I am not an expert so please read the documentation carefully.
I basically gave up on the Multi-Camera Adapter (four cameras detected on Pi4, but two cameras show no picture and then time out; zero success on CM5 with even getting a single camera detected). So I decided to gamble and order the 16MP quadrascopic kit with the CamArray HAT, which I received yesterday. I got this to work on the Pi4, thankfully.
Good luck
