AR1820hs camera not working with raspberry pi 4 even with pivariety drivers

  1. Where did you get the camera module(s)?

  2. Model number of the product(s)?

  3. What hardware/platform were you working on?

  4. Instructions you have followed. (link/manual/etc.)

  5. Problems you were having?

  6. The dmesg log from your hardware?

  7. Troubleshooting attempts you’ve made?

  8. What help do you need?

I am new to this so please be patient. The camera is arducam ar1820hs with sku B0367. I am trying to use it with raspberry pi 4b with 8gb ram with bookworm os. I followed the instruction on the following link: Quick Start Guide - Arducam Wiki . When I run the rpi cam hello or anything from rpi cam i get error ‘no cameras available’ . Even after confirming the connections are right in terms of the pins. i have also confirmed that the driver in the link i gave is installed. i checked if the libcam libraries are installed. i have also done the overlay dtoverlay=arducam-pivariety…i still keep getting error that no camers available.

Hi,
Welcome to our community.

It’s just standard troubleshooting for us. Could you please send us pics of your hardware connection? Both the Raspberry Pi and the camera’s end.

Plus, could you post the output of the following commands?

cat /boot/firmware/config.txt
dmesg | grep arducam

cat /boot/firmware/config.txt

Hi,
Thanks for getting back with pics and the output. You’ve provided the perfect clues to solve this.

It’s the FPC cable you’re using that keeps your Pi away from detecting the camera module. Could you please try the original FPC cable that comes with the camera?

Please let me know how that goes.
