I have had trouble like every other person on here trying to get this thing to work. I had tried every possible solution plus some. Sorry but I do blame the developers on this. They had to have know there was issues with this camera.
But yeah I was getting all the timeout errors and messages like a lot of people. Check wires a million times. And the only thing that makes it work every time is this…
At your own risk with the pie turned on an booted up and with the camera all hooked up unplug the camera from its board and plug it back in. The little tiny connector coming off the actual camera sensor. I don’t know why or how but if you do that then try to open the camera it works every time.
For that session you should be good to go. But if you power off the pi you will have to do it again. Maybe this will give the devs a clue as to what’s wrong if they see this and then can fix it. And yes I am running the latest of everything on a 8gb pi5.
Hi @Matt79
Apologies for any inconvenience
I’ll be here to clear things up.
While lots of customers face the same timeout errors and messages with you, the root cause of the issues is different.
It’s literally the first time for us to see this phenomenon. We’re very curious about the hardware status. Are you comfortable sending us a video to show this issue?
Moreover, to better understand your situation, it would be better if you could send this Hawkeye camera back to us. Of course, we’ll arrange a replacement for you.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Well I don’t think you want it back as I have since removed the lens for use on a telescope. I was going to return it in the beginning but didn’t wanna deal with Amazon lol. I’m not mad at all just sharing what I did to get it going as I have seen tons of people with same issue but never figure it out.
Id be glad to share a video of me getting it working if you like. Or if you really want it back we can arrange that.
Hi,
Thank you for getting back to us. We’d appreciate a video you share.
In the meantime, to help us confirm the root cause of the issue, could you please try to replicate it when you receive the replacement? If everything goes well with the new camera, you don’t have to send the old one back to us.
It’d be better if you could DM me with your Amazon order number. We’ll be happy to ship the replacement as soon as possible.
