Will Arducam V3Link TI kit work with Jetson Orin NX by soldering to D-ch adapter?

Hi everyone, quick compatibility question before I commit to hardware. Can the Arducam V3Link Camera Kit for TI Development Boards (https://www.arducam.com/product/arducam-v3link-camera-kit-for-ti-development-boards/) be used with an Nvidia Jetson Orin NX? I know there’s also a dedicated Jetson kit here: https://www.arducam.com/product/arducam-imx477p-v3link-fpd-link-serdes-camera-kit-for-nvidia-jetson-orin-nx-orin-nano/ but I’d really like to use the TI kit if possible.

Thanks for the post. A couple of things would help narrow this down. Which carrier board are you running the Orin NX on, and how were you planning to connect the TI kit? The reason I ask is that the Jetson-specific solution uses a 6-pin connector for I2C communication, so the wiring approach matters a lot here.

Right, that 6-pin I2C connector is exactly the part I’m unsure about. My idea was to solder some wires to the V3LINK D-ch adapter board and connect it directly to the Jetson. Would that actually work? Here’s the board I’m looking at:

Thanks for the photo, that helps. Before I go into pin-level details, can you tell me how many cameras you’re planning and what cable distance you need? That has a big impact on whether this kind of direct wiring stays stable.

I need stable and synchronized camera views over roughly 3-5 meters. The plan is to connect two Camarray HATs on a single I2C line, and then run that to the Jetson.

Okay, so if I’m reading this right, you’d be running 2x Camarray HAT together with 4x V3Link boards and 16 cameras total. Could you post your topology diagram so I can see exactly how everything ties together?

Yes, that’s the setup. Here’s the full list and the diagram:

Thanks, that makes the picture much clearer. Let me summarize what I understand so I’m answering the right question: you’re looking at the V3Link Camera Kit for TI Development Boards (https://www.arducam.com/product/arducam-v3link-camera-kit-for-ti-development-boards/) for use with the Jetson Orin NX, and you also found the existing Jetson-specific solution (https://www.arducam.com/product/arducam-imx477p-v3link-fpd-link-serdes-camera-kit-for-nvidia-jetson-orin-nx-orin-nano/). The core question is whether soldering wires to the V3LINK D-ch adapter board and going straight into the Jetson will work, especially for stable and synchronized views over 3-5 meters with that Camarray + V3Link topology. At this point this is a compatibility question rather than a reported fault, and I don’t have an official answer or wiring instructions for this exact configuration yet. I’ll need to check with engineering and will post back here once I have something concrete.
