Hi everyone, I’m trying to get an Arducam IMX415 8MP camera working with my Jetson Orin Nano (JetPack 6.2, R36.4.7). I checked the GitHub repo for drivers but there’s nothing listed for the Orin Nano platform — only Raspberry Pi stuff. Does anyone know where I can download the correct driver for Jetson? I’m kind of stuck here.
Hello — could you let me know exactly which camera model you have? A link to the product page would help me confirm what we’re dealing with before we dive into troubleshooting.
Sure, it’s the Arducam IMX415 MIPI camera — the 8MP one. Bought it off Amazon. I was under the impression it could work with any board that has a MIPI-CSI connector.
Thanks for confirming. So here’s the situation: the Arducam IMX415 MIPI camera is designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi platform. Its driver support, at least currently, is limited to Raspberry Pi boards. It connects via the MIPI-CSI interface, but the driver stack relies on the Pi’s camera subsystem and the VideoCore ISP. Jetson devices like your Orin Nano use a completely different camera framework (Argus / V4L2 / libargus), and there’s no compatible driver for this camera on that platform. So unfortunately, you won’t be able to download and install a working driver for the Jetson Orin Nano with this particular camera.
That’s really disappointing. I’m actually working on a product that needs four cameras, so this throws a wrench in things. Are there any alternatives from Arducam that would work with the Jetson Orin Nano? My requirements are pretty specific — I need something with a Sony STARVIS 2 sensor (like IMX462 or IMX678), motorized IR-cut filter, bare board form factor under 25x25mm, and USB UVC connectivity since I need to fit four of them in a tight enclosure. Also need M12 lens mount, portrait orientation support, and the ability to trigger external IR illuminators. This is for outdoor computer vision — security, wildlife monitoring, that kind of thing. Anything in your lineup that fits?
That’s a detailed set of requirements, and I can see why you’d need something quite specific for a four-camera outdoor deployment. Unfortunately we don’t have an off-the-shelf product that checks all those boxes right now — especially the combination of a STARVIS 2 sensor, motorized IR-cut, USB UVC, and that compact bare-board form factor. I’ve gone ahead and forwarded your full requirements to our product development and sales teams for evaluation as a potential custom design. They’ll be the ones who can assess feasibility for a custom solution given your use case and volume. In the meantime, for the original IMX415 + Jetson issue — I’m afraid the short answer remains that it’s a no-go. The camera is fundamentally tied to the Raspberry Pi ecosystem. If anything changes on that front I’ll update this thread.
