Hi all, hoping someone here has seen this one before. I’ve got a Raspberry Pi 4B with a Camaray HAT and four IMX708 120° camera modules, connected using four UC-693 broadband cables, running libcamera. When I start the video feed the picture is clean for a few seconds, then it turns pink and gets a lot of interference/tearing. It does it every time. I already searched the forums and found a few threads about the same pink feed + interference issue, but none of them had a solution. I’ve attached two screenshots of what it looks like when it goes bad. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for the details and the screenshots. That pattern — clean image at startup, then turning pink with interference shortly after — often points to a signal integrity or bandwidth problem rather than a plain config error, especially on a multi-camera HAT setup. Before we go deeper, could you share a few things?
- The exact libcamera command or script you’re using, along with resolution and framerate if you’ve changed them from defaults
- Any terminal output or logs from around the time it starts to break (dmesg can be useful too)
- Whether you can reproduce it with just a single camera and one cable connected
Also, are the UC-693 cables at their standard length, and are all four bundled together?
I don’t have any logs or the command saved right now — I can capture the terminal output next time I reproduce it if that helps. The cables are the standard UC-693 length, not extended, and they do run together from the HAT out to the cameras. I haven’t tried removing three of them to test a single camera yet, but I can give that a shot when I get a minute.
Sure, take your time on that, and if you can grab the terminal output while it’s actually glitching, that would be really helpful. Looking at your screenshots and the described behavior, my working theory is a signal integrity/bandwidth issue with the four-camera HAT setup. The fact that it starts clean and then degrades into pink/interference fits that better than a basic software misconfiguration. I haven’t found a documented root cause or fix for this exact setup yet, and it sounds like the threads you found earlier hit the same dead end.
To investigate this properly I’d like to look at the live behavior on your Pi. I’ve sent you a private message with a scheduling link and instructions for a remote support session — please check your messages and send the access details there rather than posting them in the thread. Our support timezone is UTC+8 (Beijing/Hong Kong), so keep that in mind when picking a slot.
Got your message, thanks. I’ll schedule a time and send the access details back through private message. I’ll also try to reproduce it and save the terminal output before the session.
Perfect. Just to recap where we are: the issue isn’t resolved yet and the root cause hasn’t been pinned down. The leading theory is signal integrity/bandwidth trouble with the multi-camera HAT and UC-693 cable setup, since the feed is clean at first and only turns pink/interfered after running for a bit. We’ll use the remote session to reproduce it live, go through the logs, and check how the camera links behave under load. I’ll update this thread with whatever we find so others hitting the same pink feed issue have a reference.
