UVC Camera B0261 shows grayscale on Linux after serial number change, missing burner files

Hi, I’m having a problem with my Arducam UVC camera (model B0261) and could really use some help.

I was trying to change the camera’s serial number and followed the guide here: Redirecting... using ParamTableSetBurnerAP.exe with the UVC_B0261_20220824.bin firmware. The camera worked fine before I ran that tool. Now, ever since I changed the serial number, it only outputs grayscale images — the color is completely gone.

My setup is a Linux host (Dell XPS13). Here’s the dmesg output I get when I plug the camera in:

Any idea what went wrong or how I can fix it? I just want to get the color image back.

Hi, thanks for the detailed logs. This is most likely happening because a serial number / product name change requires a full firmware re-burn — if the parameter data doesn’t match, the device can come up in a bad state like the grayscale output you’re seeing.

Important note: every time you want to change the serialNumber or the product name, you need to re-burn the firmware (i.e. repeat the whole procedure again).

Here’s the procedure for the B0261:

  1. Open ParamTableSetBurnerAP.exe and click the button ‘从设备中读取’ (circled in red in the guide). You should see the camera info appear once you click it.
  2. Click ‘浏览’ and choose the file UVC_B0261_20220824.bin, then click the button ‘开始烧录’. Wait for a while until it finishes.
  3. After modifying the SerialNumber, you need to uninstall the device in the device manager and re-plug the camera.
  4. Re-plug the camera and you should see the SerialNumber modified.

Thanks for the quick reply. I don’t see anything attached on my end though — there’s no ParamTableSetBurnerAP.exe and no UVC_B0261_20220824.bin anywhere in the message. Could you send those two files again? Without them I can’t re-run the burn procedure at all.

To summarize where we’re at: the plan is to re-burn the firmware using ParamTableSetBurnerAP.exe + UVC_B0261_20220824.bin, then uninstall the device and re-plug so the new serial number takes effect. Just remember that every serial number / product name change requires a fresh firmware burn (repeat these steps each time).
