Unknown Device error using Arducam serial number tool with B0485 UVC camera on Windows

Hi all, I’m stuck trying to change the serial number on an Arducam B0485 UVC camera. I followed the Serial Number Tool Guide (the ‘Detect your device’ section here: Redirecting...), but when I run the Windows serial number tool it just shows ‘Unknown Device’ and I can’t change anything. I’m on Windows and using the .exe version of the tool. Has anyone got this working on a B0485? If there’s a Python script that can do the same thing I’d rather use that, otherwise I need some help getting the Windows executable to actually see the camera.

Thanks for the details. The ‘Unknown Device’ result on the B0485 usually means the stock tool isn’t matching the camera’s descriptor, so the tool needs a small modification before it will detect the B0485 properly. I don’t have a Python version of this, but the supported route is to modify the serial number tool. I’ve sent you the modification steps over private message, please check your inbox and follow them, then let me know if the tool detects the camera.

Thanks for the quick reply. I checked my messages, but the Google Drive link you sent is giving me an access error, something like ‘You need access’ and it looks like the file isn’t shared with my account. I’ve attached a screenshot of what I’m seeing. Can you check the sharing settings on that link?

Got it, that link worked. I downloaded UVC-3.0_Modification.zip. I’ll go through the modification steps now and report back once I’ve tried it.

To summarize where we are: the camera shows up as ‘Unknown Device’ in the stock serial number tool, and the path we’re trying is the UVC-3.0 modification package so the tool can detect the B0485. The blocker so far was just the file access on the first link, which we’ve worked around with the alternate link. Go ahead and run through the modification steps, and let us know what the tool reports after that.
