Unable to install IMX477 driver on Jetson TX2, ArduCAM script cannot find deb package

Hi all, I’m trying to get an ArduCAM IMX477 MIPI camera working on a Jetson TX2, but I can’t even get the driver installed. I grabbed the install script from ArduCAM’s GitHub and ran it, but it just errors out. Has anyone hit this before?

Can you post the exact command you ran, the full output, and a few details about the board? The kernel version and Jetson type matter here, since that installer tries to pick a matching deb package based on those.

Sure. The board is a Jetson TX2, kernel is 4.9.337-tegra-32.7.4-20230608211515, and the Jetson type shows lanai-3636. The command I used was:

wget https://github.com/ArduCAM/MIPI_Camera/releases/download/v0.0.3/install_full.sh

And the script failed with:

Cannot find the corresponding deb package, please send the following information to [email protected]

Thanks, that error is coming from the installer itself - it means it looked for a deb package matching your kernel/board and couldn’t find one. Before I dig further, can you confirm what the board reports directly? Run uname -r and cat /proc/device-tree/model (or check /etc/nv_tegra_release) so we know we’re matching on the right values.

Ran those. uname -r gives 4.9.337-tegra-32.7.4-20230608211515 and the model shows lanai-3636, same as before. I re-ran the install script and it still stops at the same ‘Cannot find the corresponding deb package’ message.

Okay, that matches. I checked the v0.0.3 install_full.sh release against the available debs. The installer keys off the Jetson type + kernel version, and there is no deb package published for lanai-3636 (Jetson TX2) with kernel 4.9.337-tegra-32.7.4. That’s why it fails right there - it’s not a path or permissions problem, the package it’s looking for simply doesn’t exist.

So the root cause is that ArduCAM hasn’t released the IMX477 driver for the TX2 platform yet. There’s no matching deb package available for the Jetson TX2, and as of now there’s no driver or workaround to install. Nothing else to run on the install side - the script can’t proceed until they publish a TX2 package. Keep an eye on their MIPI_Camera releases for a TX2 build.
