Hi all, I’m stuck trying to get the Arducam IMX477 drivers installed on my Jetson Xavier NX. I’m following the official Native Camera Quick Start Guide (Quick-Start-Guide - Arducam Wiki) and running:
./install_full.sh -m imx477
The script starts but then dumps a bunch of errors. Screenshot of what I get:
The weird part is I’ve installed these same drivers several times on a Jetson Nano with no problems. I figured the NX would be basically the same process. Am I missing something obvious?
Thanks for the screenshot. The Nano and NX share a lot, but the driver script is sensitive to the Jetpack/L4T version, and that’s where I suspect the issue is. Can you run the following on the NX and paste the output?
cat /etc/nv_tegra_release
Also, which Jetpack version did you flash? The errors in your screenshot look like the script is hitting an unexpected release version.
I flashed the board a while back using the latest available in NVIDIA SDK Manager, so I assumed it was fine. Is that R35.4.1? I’m not 100% sure how that maps to a Jetpack number.
That confirms it. R35.4.1 maps to Jetpack 5.1.2, which is newer than what the IMX477 install script supports. That’s why ./install_full.sh -m imx477 fails — the script checks the L4T release and your version is too high for it. Arducam maintains a supported Jetpack version list for this driver on their docs; compare your version against that list. If Jetpack 5.1.2 isn’t on it, you’ll need to flash a supported version onto the NX before running the install script.
Got it, that makes sense — the Nano I used before was definitely on an older Jetpack. So there’s no quick workaround, I’d need to re-flash? And how do I tell which Jetpack version corresponds to which L4T release so I can pick the right one from the supported list?
Right, re-flashing to a supported version is the reliable fix here — there isn’t a workaround that makes the script accept an unsupported release. For the mapping: Jetpack 4.x runs on L4T R32.x, and Jetpack 5.x runs on R35.x. Your R35.4.1 = Jetpack 5.1.2. Check the supported list and pick a version that’s listed, flash it, then verify with the same cat /etc/nv_tegra_release command before running ./install_full.sh -m imx477.
Sounds good. To summarize for anyone else hitting this: the IMX477 driver install script fails when the Jetpack version is too new/unsupported. Check the version with cat /etc/nv_tegra_release, compare it against Arducam’s supported Jetpack list, and use a supported version before running ./install_full.sh -m imx477. Matching the Jetpack version to the supported list is required — if you still see errors after that, post the full log and we can dig further.
