Hi all. I’m trying to use an Arducam B0392 camera module with a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, but I can’t get a wide angle view from it. The field of view is way narrower than I expected. Is there a specific mode or setting I need to enable to get the wide angle working?
That’s pretty strange. The B0392 should be wide angle by default — there isn’t a setting that turns wide angle on or off. A wide angle lens is a wide angle lens; it doesn’t exist that you can’t get a wide angle out of the camera. If the FOV looks narrow, I suspect you may have received the wrong camera module.
Ah okay. I honestly haven’t tried much yet, so I don’t have any code, logs, or previous attempts saved. How can I verify which module I actually have?
Could you post a picture of the camera module? That will let us check whether a wrong module was sent. It’s the quickest way to confirm the lens and module type.
Sure, I’ll take a photo of the module and post it. In the meantime, is there a specific command I should use to preview or capture so we can compare?
Yes — please also tell us which command you’re currently using to preview the camera and store images. And if you can, share a few pictures captured from the camera. That will help determine whether the narrow FOV is coming from the hardware or from how you’re previewing and capturing.
To summarize where we are: the root cause isn’t determined yet. The B0392 is expected to have a wide-angle lens, so a narrow FOV points to either a wrong module or incorrect preview/capture usage. Once you post the module picture, the preview/capture command you’re using, and some sample images, we can narrow it down.
