Hi everyone, hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I’ve had the 16MP IMX519 Autofocus Synchronized Quad-Camera Kit for a while now and I still can’t get it working in my project. I’ve made numerous integration attempts and none of them have panned out. My target platforms are Raspberry Pi and several NVIDIA Jetson boards: Jetson Nano, Xavier NX, AGX Orin, Orin Nano, and Orin NX. I could really use a step-by-step walkthrough covering initial setup, hardware connections, software configuration, driver installation, and troubleshooting. I don’t have specific error logs or code to share yet, the cameras just never seem to come up properly.
Thanks for the details. Before we go deeper, can you tell me which specific platform you’re currently testing on? The setup path for Raspberry Pi is completely different from the Jetson side, so the troubleshooting steps will change depending on that. If you can grab any dmesg or media-ctl output from the board when the camera fails to enumerate, that would also help a lot in narrowing this down.
Honestly I’ve been bouncing between a Pi 4 and an Orin Nano most recently. I don’t have logs saved, I was just swapping between boards trying to get any of them to detect the cameras. I know that’s not super helpful. Which platform should I start with?
No worries, let’s start with one platform and go from there. If you’re on Raspberry Pi, follow the native camera quick start here: Quick Start Guide - Arducam Wiki — that section covers the software guide for the IMX519 autofocus camera. For hardware, double-check the connection diagram in that guide (I’ve also attached the diagram to this reply) because the quad-camera wiring has to be exact.
If you’re on Jetson instead, use the multi-camera CamArray quick start here for the hardware side: Quick start - Arducam Wiki
One important thing: this kit supports both Raspberry Pi and Jetson, but the correct setup steps are different for each platform. That’s likely why the earlier attempts failed — mixing the Pi flow and the Jetson flow won’t work. Pick the board you’re most comfortable with and we’ll walk through it.
Okay, that makes sense. I’ll try the Jetson CamArray guide first since I’ve been on the Orin Nano most recently. Is there anything specific I should check on the hardware side before I redo the software setup?
At this point the root cause still isn’t pinned down because we don’t yet have platform-specific logs, but the most likely issue is using the wrong setup path for the board. On the Orin Nano, follow the Jetson CamArray hardware guide step by step, verify the ribbon connections match the diagram exactly, then work through the driver and software setup in order. Once you have dmesg or media-ctl output from that specific board, post it back here and we can dig into the actual failure.
