Hi all, I’m stuck trying to calibrate two OV9281 cameras as a stereo pair. I’m on a Jetson Xavier NX running Jetpack 4.6, with two Arducam OV9281 cameras. I installed the calibration code from the Arducam GitHub and tried to run the stereo calibration, but it just fails. Does anyone have complete working code for this setup?
Thanks for the details. Just to confirm, are both cameras showing up on the Xavier NX and streaming individually before you run calibration? Also, could you post the exact failure output from the calibration step? That will help narrow it down.
Yes, both cameras stream fine on their own. I followed the GitHub readme, but when I run the calibration it fails and doesn’t produce usable stereo parameters. I don’t have the full log in front of me right now, but the calibration never completes. I was really hoping for the complete calibration code for two OV9281 cameras on Jetpack 4.6.
I checked with our team on this. Unfortunately we no longer support that calibration code, so we can’t provide the complete calibration code for the OV9281 stereo setup on Jetson Xavier NX / Jetpack 4.6. There isn’t an updated package we can share for this right now. Sorry I don’t have better news on that one.
Understood. I have a related question about the OV9281 monochrome camera. I’m following the GitHub instructions and captured a picture, but when I print the color channels it shows 3 channels (Red, Green, Blue). The dimensions are width 640, height 512, 3 channels. I expected a single black-and-white channel. How can I fix the capture so it’s only grayscale/single channel?
Can you paste the exact shape/print output and the capture code snippet you’re using? Also, which format is the camera set to? A screenshot of the printed output would help.
Here’s the printed result. It shows shape (640, 512, 3). The camera is the OV9281 monochrome model. Screenshot attached: 
Thanks. That looks like the monochrome OV9281 is being output as 3-channel RGB instead of a single grayscale channel. We have a thread that covers changing the color channel: B0266 changing the color channel . Follow that and it should get you from 640x512x3 to a single-channel black-and-white image. To wrap up both points: for the stereo calibration, we no longer support that calibration code, so we don’t have complete code to provide; for the monochrome 3-channel issue, the linked thread should address the output format. If the steps there don’t match your capture path, post back with the code snippet and we can take another look.
