UC517 camera install script fails on Jetson Orin NX (JetPack 5.1.2)

Hi everyone, I’m trying to get an Arducam UC517 (IMX577) camera working on my Jetson Orin NX and hitting a wall. Running the install script like this:

./install_full.sh -m imx477

But it keeps failing with:

Cannot find the corresponding deb package...

I’ve tried it a few times, same result every time. Here’s my setup:

  • Jetson: NVIDIA Orin NX Developer Kit
  • JetPack: 5.1.2
  • Kernel: 5.10.192-tegra-35.5.0-20240613202628
  • Camera: Arducam UC517 (IMX577)

Anyone know if there’s a compatible deb package for this kernel? Or can someone point me to the right device tree and kernel driver files so I can set this up manually? I’d rather not wait for a full new release if there’s a workaround.

Thanks for the detailed info. Looking at your kernel version — 5.10.192-tegra-35.5.0-20240613202628 — it looks like the current Arducam release doesn’t have a matching deb package for that specific build, which is why install_full.sh is coming up empty. The script checks against the available packages and your kernel isn’t in the list yet.

Before I go down the manual .dtb / driver path, could you share a couple of photos of your Jetson board and how the camera is connected? Sometimes connection issues or carrier board specifics can cause problems that look like software errors, and it’d help to rule that out first. A shot of both sides of the board would be great.

Sure, here are a couple of photos of my setup — front and back of the board with the camera connected.

For reference, same details as before:

  • NVIDIA Orin NX Developer Kit
  • JetPack 5.1.2
  • Kernel: 5.10.192-tegra-35.5.0-20240613202628
  • Camera: UC517 (IMX577)

Let me know if you need any close-ups or specific angles.

Thanks for the photos — that actually explains a lot. Looking at them, the carrier board you’re using is a third-party development board, not the official NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX Developer Kit.

This is almost certainly the source of your problems. We’ve seen third-party carrier boards cause all kinds of compatibility issues with Arducam cameras — they can have different pin mappings, power delivery quirks, or CSI lane routing that the drivers and device tree aren’t expecting. The install_full.sh script failing is just the first symptom; even if you got past that with a manual .dtb, there’s a good chance the camera still wouldn’t initialize properly on that board.

The bottom line is that we can’t determine whether the issue is with the camera itself or the third-party hardware, and we don’t support those carrier boards directly. Here’s what I’d recommend:

  1. Test the UC517 on the official NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX Developer Kit if you have access to one.
  2. If the camera works there, then you know the issue is with the third-party board’s compatibility.
  3. If it still fails on the official dev kit, post back here with the results and we can dig deeper — then we’ll know for sure the problem is on our side.

That’s really the only way forward at this point to isolate the root cause.
