Hey everyone, I’ve got the CameraArray HAT Kit and I’m trying to use it for HDR photos. My idea is to give each of the four cameras a different exposure — one darker, one normal, one brighter, etc. — so I can merge them afterward. Is there a way to set EV and shutter independently per camera? If yes, can someone point me to the instructions?
Just to make sure I understand the setup: you want camera 1 at one shutter/EV, camera 2 at another, and so on, all triggered at the same time, then merge the frames into an HDR image?
Right. Same scene, same moment, but different exposure settings per camera. I’ve been looking through the SDK but I only seem to find global settings. I wasn’t sure if I’m missing a per-camera API or some config option.
I dug into this. The CameraArray HAT Kit does not support per-camera EV or shutter control. The controls for all four cameras are consistent — when you set EV or shutter, it applies to the whole array, not individual cameras.
So there’s no way to have camera 1 underexpose while camera 3 overexposes in the same capture? That kills the simultaneous multi-exposure HDR idea then.
Correct. Per-camera exposure control is not available on the HAT Kit, so HDR capture that relies on different exposure settings per camera isn’t supported with this kit. There aren’t separate per-camera instructions because that feature isn’t there. If your HDR workflow needs simultaneous different exposures, you’d have to look at another hardware approach.
