Hi all, I’m trying to get an Arducam IMX477 camera working on my Jetson Nano. I’m not sure where to start with the driver/setup. Has anyone used this combination? Any guidance would be appreciated.
Hey, welcome. Before anything else, can you tell me which Jetson model and Jetpack/L4T version you’re on? The IMX477 driver support is very version-specific.
It’s a Jetson Nano running Jetpack 4.6.4. I don’t have logs captured yet — the camera just isn’t being detected when I try to use it. I think that maps to L4T 32.7.4, but I’m not 100% sure.
Thanks. I checked our support matrix for that combination. Jetpack 4.6.4 corresponds to L4T 32.7.4, and we have not released an IMX477 camera driver for L4T 32.7.4. That’s the root cause here — even with correct wiring, the camera won’t come up on that release.
Ah, that would explain it. So the camera itself is probably fine? Is there a way to just install a driver manually on 4.6.4, or do I really need to reflash? Which Jetpack version should I pick?
Right, the driver availability is tied to the L4T/Jetpack version. There isn’t a supported manual driver for 32.7.4, so the workaround is to reflash the device to a Jetpack version that is in our supported list. Start here: Introduction to Arducam Jetson Cameras - Arducam Wiki and pick a version from the supported list. Then burn that version to the Jetson Nano. Once it’s reflashed, follow the IMX477 setup section in the docs.
Okay, so the flow is: check the supported list, pick one of those Jetpack versions, reflash the Nano, then follow the IMX477 setup guide. I’ll give that a try and report back.
Exactly. Reflash to a supported Jetpack version from the list, then follow the IMX477 setup guide. Using an unsupported L4T version like 32.7.4 will keep the IMX477 from working, so that’s the key thing to change. Let us know how it goes after the reflash.
