What hardware/platform were you working on?
NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano (Super), JetPack 6.2.1. The camera runs at 1920×1200 @ 30fps and works well with the stock 15cm FPC cable. -

- Problems you were having?
This is not a malfunction — the camera works fine. My only issue is cable length. The stock 15cm FPC cable is too short. The camera will be installed inside a vehicle, so I need to mount it at least 1.5m (ideally more) away from the Jetson. Because of the automotive environment, the cabling must be:
- Thin — bulky cables won’t fit my routing. HDMI cables are too thick, so I’d prefer to avoid the CSI-to-HDMI solution.
- Robust / vibration-tolerant — a long FPC ribbon is not suitable either (too fragile / not compact enough).

The dmesg log from your hardware?
N/A — the camera is detected and working normally at 1920×1200 @ 30fps. (I can attach a dmesg log if helpful.) -
Troubleshooting attempts you’ve made?
I researched several extension options:
- Longer FPC ribbon — rejected (too fragile for a vehicle, and unreliable at 1.5m for CSI).
- CSI-to-HDMI extension — rejected (HDMI cable too thick for my routing).
- LAN Cable Extension Kit (the “up to 10-meter” kit for Orin Nano/NX) — looks promising (thin + robust), but I’m not sure it supports the B0579’s 4-lane MIPI configuration. Many extension kits appear to be validated only for 2-lane cameras.
- GMSL / coax (SerDes) — considered as an automotive-grade alternative.
- What help do you need?
- Is the LAN Cable Extension Kit compatible with the B0579? Specifically, does it support the 4-lane MIPI configuration at 1920×1200 @ 30fps on JetPack 6.2.1?
- If it does not fully support 4-lane / full resolution / 30fps, does it work in a reduced configuration (e.g. 2-lane mode, lower resolution or frame rate)? What are the exact limits?
- If the LAN kit isn’t suitable, what thin, robust, vibration-tolerant option do you recommend to extend the B0579 to 1.5m+ at 1920×1200 @ 30fps? For example, is there a coax / GMSL (SerDes)-based or automotive-grade solution? (I’d like to avoid HDMI and long FPC cables.)
