Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 (IMX708) connection issue on Jetson Orin Nano via Arducam docs

Hi all, I’m trying to get a Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 (IMX708) working on my Jetson Orin Nano. I’ve been following the Arducam IMX708 native camera guide (12MP IMX708 - Arducam Wiki) and I’m hitting exactly the issue shown on the troubleshooting tab (Troubleshooting - Arducam Wiki). Here’s a screenshot of what I’m seeing:

Anyone know what’s going on? Setup is a Pi Camera Module 3 IMX708 on a Jetson Orin Nano.

Hi, welcome. Before we dig in, can you share a bit more about your environment? Specifically which Jetpack version is on the Orin Nano, and how are you booting (SD card, NVMe, etc.)? Also, what have you tried so far besides the native camera guide?

Thanks for the reply. I’m booting from an SD card. Since the native guide wasn’t working, I also followed the RidgeRun guide for the IMX708 driver on Jetson (Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 IMX708 Linux driver for Jetson | RidgeRun Developer Wiki). I skipped the nvidia_sdk Jetpack flash part because of the SD card boot, and instead tried ‘Installing the Driver - Option B: JetPack sources patch or SCP files copy’. But I can’t get the kernel source to build with the toolchain I downloaded from NVIDIA Jetson Linux R35.3.1 (Jetson Linux 35.3.1 | NVIDIA Developer). I’ve sunk way too much time into this. Here’s my OS and kernel info:

Thanks, that helps. Can you also post your Jetpack info? The IMX708 driver has very specific Jetpack version compatibility, so that’s likely the key here.

Sure, here’s the Jetpack info from the device:

Okay, that screenshot confirms it. You’re running Jetpack 5.1.1, and that version is not compatible with the Arducam IMX708 camera driver - it’s not in the supported list. That also lines up with the kernel source build failures you hit with the R35.3.1 toolchain; the driver expects Jetpack 5.1.2 or a compatible version, and 5.1.1 will not work.

So the fix is to flash your Jetson Orin Nano to Jetpack 5.1.2, then retry the IMX708 camera. After the upgrade, go back through the Arducam IMX708 guide and the troubleshooting page if you still see issues.
