Hi, I’m trying to get an Arducam JetVariety camera working on my Jetson Nano but the installer just refuses to run. When I try to install it I get “Cannot support the corresponding deb package” and it stops right there. I’m on a Jetson Nano (Developer Kit Version). Anyone know what’s going on?
Hey, happy to help. To narrow this down I need a few things:
- A screenshot (or copy/paste) of the full error, including the command you ran before it.
- Your exact kernel version - run
uname -aand paste the output. - A picture of the carrier board you’re using.
That “Cannot support the corresponding deb package” message usually comes from a version check inside the installer, so the kernel/L4T version matters a lot here. Let’s start with those.
ok, uname -a gives me this:
Linux jetson-nano 4.9.253-tegra #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Jul 26 12:20:00 UTC 2021 aarch64 GNU/Linux
and the full version string is 4.9.253-tegra-32.6.1-20210726122000. It’s a Nano Developer Kit Version.
Thanks - so that’s L4T 32.6.1 on the 4.9.253-tegra kernel. The deb packages are built against specific kernel/L4T builds, so if the kernel doesn’t match what the package was compiled for, the installer’s check will bail out with exactly that message.
Can you paste the whole terminal output from the install attempt, starting from the command you ran? And tell me which package/installer you downloaded? That way I can see whether it’s a version-string mismatch or something else.
Here’s what I ran and got:
$ ls
Arducam-Jetvariety-main install.sh
$ ./install.sh
...
Detected Jetson: Nano
Reading kernel version...
Cannot support the corresponding deb package
That’s basically it. It just stops there, no other errors.
Got it - that confirms it’s a version-check failure rather than an actual build error. The script reads your kernel version, looks for a matching deb, and if the version string doesn’t line up it prints that message and exits. Your string (4.9.253-tegra-32.6.1-20210726122000) has to match one of the supported builds exactly.
Two more things I need before I can tell you which direction to go:
- A picture of the carrier board. There are Nano dev kit boards and third-party boards, and the camera connector / CSI setup differs, so I want to see what you actually have in front of you.
- The exact name of the deb or package you downloaded, so I can check which kernel it was built for.
I’ll grab a photo of the board and post it. The package I grabbed was the JetVariety deb for the Nano… I think it was built for 32.6.x but honestly I’m not sure about the exact number. The board looks like the standard dev kit one to me.
OK, so where we stand: the install is failing at the installer’s compatibility check, not during any driver compile step, and “Cannot support the corresponding deb package” points to a kernel/L4T mismatch between your system (4.9.253-tegra-32.6.1) and the deb you’re using. We haven’t pinned the root cause down yet, though - the version check could just be a mismatch with the package, or the carrier board could be a factor, and I can’t rule either one out from what we have so far.
So please post the photo of the carrier board when you can, and if you still have the downloaded file, tell me the exact deb name/version. Once I have those two, I can tell you whether it’s simply a matter of getting the deb built for your exact kernel or whether the board itself is the issue. No confirmed workaround yet on my side - the next step is those two items.
