Hey everyone, I’m stuck trying to get my Arducam 12MP IMX708 (SKU B0482) working on a Jetson Nano 2GB dev kit. Running Jetpack 4.6.3 and ls /dev/video* just returns nothing at all — no video devices detected.

Here’s the weird part: I have an older SD card with the same Jetpack version (4.6.3) and an older camera driver on it, and when I boot from that card, the camera shows up and works perfectly fine. So the hardware connection and the camera itself are definitely not the problem. It’s something specific to this particular system image.

Has anyone run into this before? Not sure where to start digging.

This sounds like a system environment issue on the Jetson Nano side rather than a problem with the Arducam camera itself — especially since the same hardware works on a different SD card.

The fact that no /dev/video* nodes appear at all suggests the camera pipeline isn’t being set up properly, which usually points to something off with the L4T/JPEG stack or the device tree configuration on that particular image.

I’d recommend doing a clean repair/reinstall of the Jetson system environment using NVIDIA’s SDK Manager. That should rebuild the imaging stack correctly. Make sure you select the same Jetpack version (4.6.3 or newer) and let it flash everything fresh.

Give that a shot and let us know if /dev/video* shows up afterwards.

Alright, I went ahead and reinstalled Jetpack using the SDK Manager — ended up on 4.6.5 since that’s what it pulled. The good news is the camera is now detected! ls /dev/video* shows /dev/video0 and I can capture frames.

But now I’ve got a different problem. I actually have three Jetson Nano boards here and I’m testing the same camera (Arducam IMX708 B0482) across all of them with the same Jetpack 4.6.5 image. The image quality is not consistent:

  • Jetson Nano 2GB — image looks good, colors are fine
  • Jetson Nano 4GB (A02 revision) — also looks good
  • Jetson Nano 4GB (B01 revision) — image is noticeably pale/washed out

Here are sample captures from each:

Same camera module, same Jetpack version, same lighting conditions — but the B01 looks completely different. Any idea what’s going on?

Good to hear the detection issue is sorted. The color difference you’re seeing on the B01 is a known quirk — the B01 carrier board uses a different EEPROM/camera configuration path compared to the A02 and 2GB boards, and it’s likely missing or has incorrect ISP override settings for the IMX708 sensor.

This can be fixed by dropping in the correct ISP calibration file. Try the following:

wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/RidgeRun/NVIDIA-Jetson-IMX477-RPIV3/master/li-camera-calibration-files/camera_overrides.isp
sudo cp camera_overrides.isp /var/nvidia/nvcam/settings/
sudo chmod 664 /var/nvidia/nvcam/settings/camera_overrides.isp
sudo chown root:root /var/nvidia/nvcam/settings/camera_overrides.isp

Then reboot and test again on the B01. The ISP override file adjusts the color processing pipeline specifically for this sensor, and the B01 revision tends to need it explicitly where the other boards pick up defaults that happen to work.

That did the trick! Ran those commands exactly as listed, rebooted the B01, and the image quality now matches the other two boards. Colors are no longer washed out — looks just like the 2GB and A02 captures now.

Thanks for the help! For anyone else stumbling on this with a B01 and an IMX708, definitely check whether that ISP override file is in place. Night and day difference.
