No exposure control for Arducam AR0234 on Jetson Orin Nano A603 carrier

Hi all, I’m stuck getting an Arducam 2.3MP AR0234 Color Global Shutter camera working on a Jetson Orin Nano with a Seeed Studio A603 carrier board. I’ve been following the Jetvariety Quick Start Guide (Quick Start Guide - Arducam Wiki), but the camera has never worked on this particular board. After I install the Jetvariety driver, the Jetson won’t boot anymore. Has anyone run into this with the A603 carrier board?

Thanks for the details. The problem is that the Jetvariety driver isn’t compatible with the Seeed Studio A603 carrier board. That board ships with its own kernel version and a different device tree, and the Jetvariety installer overwrites the kernel/device tree during installation, which is why your board stops booting afterwards.

I’ve sent you the Jetvariety source code for Orin NX L4T 35.3.1 / JetPack 5.1.1 through private message. You can use the device tree and kernel modification sources there to work on making it compatible with the A603.

Thanks, that helps. I should have mentioned this earlier though - I’m actually running L4T 36.3.0 with JetPack 6.0 on this board, not 35.3.1 / 5.1.1. The camera itself works fine; I tested it on a Jetson Orin Nano dev board and it worked well. The problem is only the A603 carrier board combination.

On top of that, I need to control auto exposure on this camera. I ran v4l-ctl to look for an exposure mode setting but it doesn’t seem to find one at all (screenshot attached). Can you send the device tree and kernel modification sources for the A603, and let me know how to control exposure?

Thanks for clarifying the version. Just to be upfront: we don’t have camera driver source code for L4T 36.3.0 / JetPack 6.0. The source I sent earlier is for L4T 35.3.1 / JetPack 5.1.1 only.

On the exposure question: the Jetvariety cameras don’t include ISP (Image Signal Processing) control capabilities. Auto exposure is an ISP feature, so that’s why v4l-ctl can’t find any exposure mode setting. Auto exposure control isn’t available via v4l-ctl on this camera.
