Hey everyone, I picked up the Arducam multi-camera board v2.2 recently and I’m trying to get it working on an NVIDIA Jetson Nano (4GB). I followed a video guide I found online and went through the driver installation steps, but the board just won’t work at all. The carrier board is completely unresponsive. Is there actually a driver for the Jetson Nano? I’m starting to think this thing isn’t supported on this platform. Has anyone managed to get it running?
Unfortunately, the multi-camera board v2.2 does not have a driver for the Jetson platform — it simply won’t work on the Nano. The multiplexer on that board was designed specifically for Raspberry Pi and was never intended for Jetson. That said, we do have some alternative quad-camera products that are compatible with Jetson. You can check them out here: Multi-Camera CamArray - Arducam Wiki — those might be a better fit for your setup.
That’s a shame. Is there any plan to develop a Jetson driver for this board? Can this be put on the roadmap? I’d really prefer not to buy another board if there’s a chance support is coming down the line.
I wouldn’t count on it, honestly. The multiplexer hardware on this board was designed exclusively with the Raspberry Pi in mind — the Jetson platform was never part of the design considerations. There aren’t any plans to add Jetson support for this particular carrier board and I don’t see that changing in the future. If you need multi-camera on Jetson, your best bet is to go with one of the products from the link I shared earlier, which were built for that platform from the ground up.
Alright, understood. If the driver situation isn’t going to change, my fallback is to go with a hybrid / multi-channel camera design instead. Appreciate the honest answer — at least now I can stop banging my head against the wall trying to make this board work on the Nano. Thanks!
