Need to convert Arducam 200MP RAW to image on macOS with intermittent camera

Hi everyone, I’ve got the Arducam 200MP camera module and I’m trying to get it going on my Mac. I’ve been following the online documentation, but it only works intermittently and keeps acting unstable — sometimes frames come through, sometimes the device isn’t even recognized. My main blocker right now is that I need to convert the 200MP RAW output into a viewable image on macOS. Is there any source code or library for doing that RAW-to-image conversion on Mac? I couldn’t find anything in the docs.

Thanks for the details. Just to set expectations early: the Arducam 200MP module does not function on macOS, and Arducam has never advertised compatibility with macOS. That likely explains a lot of the intermittent/unstable behavior you’re seeing. Out of curiosity, what host application are you using to capture on the Mac, and do you know what exact format the raw frames are in? Which docs are you following?

I’m using the example from the online docs, but on Mac it’s really hit or miss. Sometimes I get frames, sometimes it drops out after a reconnect. I’m not 100% sure about the exact raw format — it’s just the raw output coming from the module. Honestly my main need is just converting that 200MP RAW into an actual image on macOS. Can you provide the source code or library for the 200MP conversion?

Right — the RAW-to-image conversion path for this module on macOS isn’t something we officially support. The module is really built around Linux / Raspberry Pi toolchains. Since macOS isn’t a supported platform, there’s no official macOS library for the 200MP RAW conversion, and the instability you’re seeing is likely tied to running it on an unsupported stack.

Understood — I realize macOS compatibility was never advertised. But is it still possible to provide the source code for the 200MP conversion? Even if it’s not officially supported on Mac, I’d like to look at it and see if I can adapt it myself.
