Need register manual and 55 fps config without trigger for Windows GUI camera green tint

Hi everyone. I just received this camera module and it arrived intact and matches what I ordered, so no issues there. I’ve been testing it with the Windows GUI tool in external trigger mode and I can get around 55 FPS, which is great. The problem is the image has a really strong greenish tint. I’ve tried adding a lot of external white light but it doesn’t help at all. I’m thinking I need to adjust the configuration file and the interfacing code to get proper white balance. Has anyone run into this?

Thanks for the details. Looking at the module you have, it does not have ISP (Image Signal Processing) support. That means the greenish tint you’re seeing in the raw data coming from the camera is actually normal behavior for this module. Because there is no ISP, adjusting the configuration file will not give you the white balance effect you’re after. The module outputs raw data, so any white balance or image processing has to be done on your side. It’s really meant for people who want raw data for further custom processing, not for out-of-the-box processed images.

That makes sense, thanks. So I’ll need to handle white balance in my own processing pipeline. Two more things though. Is there a detailed user manual for this module that lists how many programmable registers are present and what each one corresponds to? And can I get a configuration file to achieve 55 FPS video capture through the Windows GUI tool without the external trigger? Right now I can only reach ~55 FPS when using the external trigger.

About the 55 FPS without external trigger at 1280x960, that won’t be possible over USB 2.0. The data volume required for 1280x960 at 55fps exceeds the data transfer capacity of USB 2.0. The maximum frame rate for 1280x960 over USB 2.0 is 30 FPS. The external trigger path may have let you see 55 FPS, but for continuous streaming at that resolution the USB 2.0 bandwidth is the limiting factor.

Understood about the USB 2.0 limitation. I’d still like to dig deeper for our R&D work. Could you share a manual/datasheet for the module with a detailed description of the programmable registers used to make the camera work? That would help me understand what I can control directly.

I’ve sent you the manual/datasheet with the register descriptions through private message, please check your messages. To summarize where we stand: the greenish tint is expected because the module has no ISP and outputs raw data, so white balance has to be handled in your own processing, and configuration changes won’t correct it. For 1280x960 streaming without the external trigger, you’re limited to 30 FPS over USB 2.0. If 55 FPS is a hard requirement, you’d need to consider a lower resolution or a different interface with more bandwidth.
