Need help with an issue

Hi everyone, I’ve got an Arducam 5MP OX05B1S RGBIR (USB industrial camera) arriving soon and I’m trying to prep my test setup ahead of time. I couldn’t find answers to two things in the docs:

  1. Is it possible to fine-tune the analog gain for the RGB and IR channels individually? I need different gain levels per channel for what I’m doing.

  2. How do I configure the camera to use the hardware trigger pin on the PCB? I’d like to trigger externally rather than via software.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks for reaching out. Good questions — I’ve forwarded both to our technical team for review and I’ll post back here once I have their input.

Got an update back from the technical team on both points.

  1. Individual analog gain control per RGB-IR channel is not available by default. That one would require a customization, so if you want to pursue it you’d need to talk to our sales team for further details.

  2. For the hardware trigger, the external trigger feature is documented in the OX05B1S External Trigger application note. The control menu section covers the relevant settings:

https://docs.arducam.com/USB-Industrial-Camera/Application-note/OX05B1S_External_Trigger/#control-menu

I’ve also sent you a step-by-step file through private message for enabling the trigger function — please follow the steps in that file.

Thanks, I’ve gone through the manual and the file you sent. Just to confirm — once I follow those steps, no additional configuration is needed to enable the hardware trigger, correct? I drive all my camera settings through Python using the Arducam-provided driver, so I want to make sure I’m not missing some extra register or flag outside of what’s in that file.

Correct — the steps in the file enable the trigger function, and as long as they’re followed in order, no additional configuration should be required. If your Python setup is using the same driver properties, the trigger-related settings map to those, but the enable sequence from the file still needs to be run as described. If the trigger doesn’t behave as expected after that, post back and we can dig into it further.
