Hi everyone. I’m using an Arducam IMX477 Autofocus / Software-Controlled Focus HQ Camera (12MP, 100° FOV, M12 lens) with an Orin Nano 8GB Developer Board and it has never worked at all. I looked at the ribbon cable that came in the box and I’m pretty sure it’s the wrong one for this board. Can someone tell me which cable I actually need? I’d also like to buy a bunch of these cables later since I plan to get more of these cameras.
Welcome. Can you tell me which cable actually came in the box? These IMX477 kits usually ship with a 15-22 pin cable, so it would help if you can check the connector ends.
The included cable is 15 pins on one end and 22 pins on the other. The listing says it’s compatible with Jetson Nano / Xavier NX and Orin NX / AGX Orin, but I don’t see the Orin Nano board mentioned anywhere. The connector just doesn’t seem to line up with the board.
That matches what I expected. The Orin Nano developer board uses a 22-pin to 22-pin ribbon cable at 0.5mm pitch. The 15-22 pin cable that came with the camera works on Jetson Nano / Xavier NX and Orin NX / AGX Orin, but it is not the right cable for the Orin Nano.
Ah okay, so the camera itself is probably fine and I’ve just been using the wrong cable this whole time? I was starting to worry the sensor was dead.
Correct. Based on what you’ve described, everything points to the cable. Since the camera never powered up because of the missing/incorrect cable, there’s no sign of a hardware fault on the camera itself. You need the 22-22 pin cable for the Orin Nano.
Good to hear. Where can I get the correct cable? I’ll probably need around 10 of them because I’m planning to buy more of these sensors.
I’ve sent you the link for the correct 22-pin to 22-pin cable through private message, please check your messages. It’s a 150mm 22pin-to-22pin camera cable with 0.5mm pitch. For 10 units, you may want to contact them about bulk availability.
To summarize: the root cause is that the included 15-22 pin cable isn’t compatible with the Orin Nano’s camera connector. The fix is to use a 22-22 pin cable. No code or logs were captured since the camera never powered on due to the cable. Once you swap in the correct cable, the camera should be detected.
