Multicamera hat module cannot find corresponding deb package on Jetson Orin Nano

Hi, I’m trying to get my Arducam multicamera HAT module working on my NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kit, but when I try to set it up I keep getting this error:

Cannot find the cornesponding deb package.

My environment:

  • Kernel: 5.15.122-tegra-36.2.0-20231218214829
  • Jetson: NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kit

Anyone run into this before?

That kernel string (5.15.122-tegra-36.2.0-20231218214829) is L4T 36.2.0. The issue is that Arducam hasn’t released the camera driver for L4T 36.2.0 yet, so the installer can’t find a matching .deb package for your system.

The workaround is to reflash your Jetson to one of the Jetpack versions on the officially supported list:

https://docs.arducam.com/Nvidia-Jetson-Camera/Introduction-to-Arducam-Jetson-Cameras/#official-nvidia-orin-nano-development-kit

Only the versions in that list have drivers available right now.

Thanks. I reflashed my Jetson Orin Nano to Jetpack 5.1.2 and followed the Jetvariety guide, but the B0331 multicamera HAT module still isn’t working. No luck even after following the guide step by step.

Can you try changing the HAT kit so it connects to the cam 1 port on the Jetson board instead of the cam 0 port? Worth ruling out the port before we dig further.

Okay, that got me somewhere - I can now detect the video source. But when I run the example script I get a Python error instead. I’m starting to suspect the example code or my Python version.

Environment:

  • Python 3.8
  • site-packages: /home/user/.local/lib/python3.8/site-packages
  • Running from: ~/MIPI_Camera/Jetson/Jetvariety/example

Good progress. What’s the exact command you’re running, and can you paste the full traceback?

Sure. Command:

python3 arducam_displayer.py -f GREY --width 3200 --height 1300 -d 0 --fps

And here’s the full error:

Traceback (most recent call last):

File “/home/user/MIPI_Camera/Jetson/Jetvariety/example/utils.py”, line 1, in

) = range(1, 9) + [0x80]
TypeError: unsupported operand type(s) for +: ‘range’ and ‘list’

Thanks for the full output. That traceback is a Python 3 compatibility issue in the v4l2 module, not a camera problem. On line 197 of v4l2.py it does:

) = range(1, 9) + [0x80]

In Python 3, range() returns a range object rather than a list, so you can’t concatenate it with a list using ‘+’. That’s what’s throwing the TypeError.

As for the camera itself, connecting the HAT kit to the cam 1 port instead of cam 0 is what got the video source detected. So to summarize where we are: the driver/connection looks fine on cam 1, and the remaining blocker is this Python 3 incompatibility in the example’s v4l2 module.
