Hey everyone, I’m trying to get the IMX519 (16MP) camera working on my Jetson Orin Nano Dev Kit Super and the automated install script keeps failing. It throws an error saying the matching driver for my Tegra version isn’t available on the server. Has anyone run into this? Is there a way to grab the correct .deb driver file directly?
Here’s more detail on my setup if it helps:
- Hardware: Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kit Super
- Tegra Version: R36 (release), REVISION: 4.4, GCID: 41062509, BOARD: generic, EABI: aarch64, DATE: Mon Jun 16 16:07:13 UTC 2025
- Camera: 16MP IMX519
- Kernel: Linux version 5.15.148-tegra
- JetPack 6.2 (L4T 36.4.4)
Let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks for the detailed environment info. I’ve looked into this and the IMX519 camera driver is definitely available on our GitHub releases page — the automated install script can be a bit finicky depending on the exact setup and sometimes fails to match the Tegra version properly. In your case, the driver does exist for L4T 36.4.4 with kernel 5.15.148-tegra, so this is likely a script-side lookup issue rather than a missing driver.
I’ve sent you the direct download link for the correct .deb package through private message. Please check your messages and grab it from there.
Once you have it downloaded, install it manually with:
sudo dpkg -i arducam-nvidia-l4t-kernel-t234-nx-5.15.148-tegra-36.4.4-20250703161716_arm64_imx519.deb
Give that a try and let us know how it goes.
Alright, I ran the manual dpkg install and it went through without any errors — driver appears to be installed correctly. But now I’m hitting another issue: autofocus isn’t working at all. The camera shows up as a video device and I can capture frames, but focus is completely unresponsive. Is there something extra I need to enable for autofocus on this setup?
Good to hear the driver installed cleanly. The base driver package gets the camera recognized and streaming, but autofocus control isn’t included in that driver — it requires a separate userspace tool to send the focus commands over I2C.
You’ll want to check out the Jetson IMX519 Focus Example repository. It has the steps and sample code to enable and control autofocus properly:
Follow the instructions there and you should be able to get autofocus working. If you hit any snags with it, post back and we can dig deeper.
