Hi everyone. I recently got the Arducam Stereo Hat with the AR0234 sensors and I’m setting it up with libcamera. I keep seeing a message about a missing ‘arducam-pivariety.json’ ISP configuration file. There doesn’t seem to be any such file on the system. Is that normal or did something go wrong during setup?
Thanks for reaching out. Can you share a bit more about your environment so I can look at this properly? Specifically which product/board you’re using, what software stack, and what you’re planning to do with it. Also, if you can paste the exact error text you’re seeing, that would help.
Sure. It’s the Arducam Stereo Hat with AR0234 sensors, running libcamera on a Raspberry Pi. We’re aiming for a commercial rollout, so we need things to be stable. The error basically flags that ‘arducam-pivariety.json’ isn’t present. I do understand that some of the IPA modules won’t be available because the Stereo Hat outputs a composite image, but we’ll still need to do some ISP tweaking to bring the product to market. So my main question is: is there a preconfigured ‘arducam-pivariety.json’ ISP configuration file for the AR0234?
That’s a good question, and I understand why it’s worrying you for a rollout. The short answer is: the missing ‘arducam-pivariety.json’ message should be disregarded. It does not indicate a lack of ISP support. The pivariety camera does support ISP functionality on the Raspberry Pi even without that particular configuration file being present.
Just to make sure I’m reading this right: we can ignore that missing-file message and ISP is still being applied? We assumed the message meant ISP wasn’t working at all, which would be a problem for the image quality we need.
Correct. What you’re seeing is expected. The absence of ‘arducam-pivariety.json’ doesn’t mean ISP support is missing or broken. The reason some IPA modules are unavailable is that the Stereo Hat outputs a composite image — that’s a limitation of how the two sensors are combined into a single stream, not a missing config file. So for your commercial work, you can proceed with the ISP tuning you need, and just disregard that specific missing-file message in libcamera.
