Misleading ISP support on FabToLab page for Arducam B0429 AR0234 camera on Jetson Nano

Hi everyone, I’m stuck trying to get ISP output working on an Arducam B0429 2.3MP AR0234 global shutter camera connected to a Jetson Nano B01. I followed the JetVariety camera Quick Start Guide (Quick Start Guide - Arducam Wiki). When I run arducam_display.py the display launches, but the image comes out as raw data, not a normal processed image. The capture command from the guide fails with an error too. I haven’t been able to get ISP working at all.

Thanks for the details. Can you post your full environment info and the exact commands you’re running? Also, what error do you get from the capture command? That will help narrow it down.

Sure. Product: Arducam B0429 2.3MP AR0234 Global Shutter Camera for NVIDIA Jetson Nano/NX. Platform: Jetson Nano B01. Product series: Jetson Nano/Xavier NX Cameras. I used the guide at Quick Start Guide - Arducam Wiki. I don’t have the exact error text saved from the capture command, but it fails while arducam_display.py does open and show raw output.

Got it. The reseller page you mentioned lists some ISP-related specs. Can you copy those here? Especially the output formats and any notes about the driver, because those claims matter for what should be possible.

Yes, the page I bought it from lists: image resolution 2.3MP 1920x1200; ISP output image format: JPG, YUV420, RAW, DNG; ISP output video format: MJPEG, H.264 with frame rates 1920x1200@30fps, 1920x1080@30fps, 1280x720@60fps. It also says the driver is adapted to obtain the ISP processing function and the driver must be installed before use. Package includes the AR0234 ISP camera module, 150mm 15pin to 22pin FPC cable, and acrylic case kit.

Thanks. I’ve gone through this against the B0429/AR0234 support details. The conclusion is that this camera does not support ISP control on Jetson. The raw output you’re seeing from arducam_display.py is the expected behavior for this model; the ISP processing path isn’t available through the driver.

That’s confusing because the product page specifically advertises ISP output formats and H.264/MJPEG video, and the Arducam documentation also listed ISP support until recently. So is this a config problem on my Nano B01 or an actual product limitation?

After checking, this is a product limitation, not a configuration error. Arducam isn’t able to offer ISP control support on Jetson for this camera. The official product page for the Arducam 2.3MP AR0234 Global Shutter Camera for NVIDIA Jetson Nano/NX is here: Arducam 2.3MP AR0234 Global Shutter Camera for Nvidia Jetson Nano/NX

So just to confirm, there’s no driver option or setting I can change to enable ISP on the Nano B01 for the B0429? Raw capture works, but I need the processed ISP output.

Correct. To wrap up: the Arducam B0429 2.3MP AR0234 global shutter camera does not support ISP control on Jetson Nano B01. Raw output through arducam_display.py works, but ISP functionality is not available and cannot be enabled through the driver. There is currently no ISP control solution on Jetson for this camera.
