Hi all. I’ve got an Arducam IMX519 camera and I’m trying to use it with OpenCV in Python on a Raspberry Pi. I followed the website steps to install libcamera, and libcamera itself is working fine — I can access the camera through libcamera. The problem is it doesn’t work from Python. I think one reason is that picamera2 isn’t installed, but every time I try to install it I get an error message. Has anyone run into this?
Here’s the error I keep getting when I try to install picamera2:

Environment details: IMX519 camera, Raspberry Pi, OpenCV, Python, libcamera working, picamera2 install failing.
Thanks for the screenshot. From what I can see, the install is failing because python3-picamera2 conflicts with Arducam’s libcamera. Since you’re running the IMX519 with Arducam’s libcamera build, the stock python3-picamera2 package clashes with it, so the installer errors out instead of completing.
To get past it, you need two steps:
- Remove python3-picamera2:
sudo apt-get remove --purge python3-picamera2
- Reinstall according to the tutorial below:
https://docs.arducam.com/Raspberry-Pi-Camera/Native-camera/PiCamera2-User-Guide/
If that still doesn’t work, reflash the system and update it using the Arducam documentation.
Thanks, that fixed the install issue. After purging python3-picamera2 and reinstalling following the tutorial, the camera now works fine in Python and OpenCV. The only thing is I get warnings every time I run the code. Here’s what shows up:

Is this normal, or should I change some settings?
Glad the camera is working now. About the warnings — those are a known status on Arducam’s side. We’ve tested it and they don’t affect use. No further action is needed; the warnings won’t affect the camera’s functionality.
