Hey everyone, I’m trying to get an AR0234 Jetvariety camera working on my Jetson TX2 NX board but the install script keeps failing on me.
Here’s my setup:
Board: Jetson TX2 NX (lanai-3636)
JetPack 4.6.1
L4T 32.7.1
Kernel: 4.9.253-tegra-32.7.1-20220219090344
I ran:
./install_full.sh -m arducam
And it spits out:
Cannot find the corresponding deb package
Kernel version: 4.9.253-tegra-32.7.1-20220219090344
Jetson type: lanai-3636
Then just exits. I’ve double-checked all the wiring and the camera is seated properly. Is there a different flag I should be passing or something? Anyone got this working on a TX2 NX?
Thanks for the detailed logs, that’s really helpful. Let me dig into this a bit.
Can you confirm — you said Jetson TX2 NX, and the script is detecting it as lanai-3636. That’s definitely a TX2 NX module on a B01 carrier, correct? Just want to make sure I’m looking at the right platform before I go further.
Also, could you run this and share the output?
cat /proc/device-tree/model
It’ll help confirm the exact board identity the script is seeing.
Everything looks standard as far as I can tell. I also tried the install with -m arducam and without any flags but same error either way — it just can’t find a matching .deb.
I’ve checked our driver package matrix and the root cause is pretty straightforward: the Arducam Jetvariety camera drivers do not support the Jetson TX2 NX platform. There simply isn’t a compiled .deb package in our repository that matches the TX2 NX kernel (4.9.253-tegra-32.7.1) — that’s why the installer script returns “Cannot find the corresponding deb package.”
The driver packages we currently ship are built exclusively for the Jetson Orin family:
NVIDIA® Jetson AGX Orin
NVIDIA® Jetson Orin Nano
NVIDIA® Jetson Orin NX
Unfortunately the TX2 NX runs an older kernel (4.9.x) with a different module architecture, and we haven’t backported the Jetvariety stack to that platform. There’s no workaround I can offer — this isn’t a configuration issue or a missing flag, it’s a fundamental platform incompatibility.
Well that’s disappointing, but I appreciate you looking into it so quickly.
Since the AR0234 won’t work on my TX2 NX, do you guys have any other camera modules that are compatible with this board? Doesn’t have to be the same sensor — I’m open to suggestions. I just need something that’ll actually work on the TX2 NX with JetPack 4.6.1.
I checked across our entire camera module lineup for you, and unfortunately the answer is the same across the board.
At this time, none of our camera modules are compatible with the Jetson TX2 NX. The entire Arducam camera module portfolio — across all sensor types — is built around our driver stack that targets the Orin family platforms. There’s no TX2 NX support across any of our products.
I know that’s not the answer you were hoping for. If you’re tied to the TX2 NX, you’d need to look at camera solutions from other vendors that specifically list TX2/TX2 NX compatibility on JetPack 4.x. Wish I had a better option to point you to here.
