I’m using the Arducam IMX708 Manual Focus Camera V3 (M12, 120° Wide) on Raspberry Pi 5, Bookworm OS.
I’ve correctly configured dtoverlay=arducam-pivariety,cam0 in /boot/firmware/config.txt, installed the Pivariety drivers, and verified the ribbon cable and slot (CAM0).
However, the camera fails to respond. Logs show:
dmesg → arducam-pivariety 6-000c: probe failed
i2cdetect -y 6 → no device detected
libcamera → no cameras found

The OV5647 works fine on the same Pi and slot. Can you confirm if this model works with Pi 5 and Bookworm? Or is it a hardware issue?

Hi,
You need to modify it to dtoverlay=708,cam0. After that, please reboot your Pi to take effect.
