Hi, assuming you are asking this product:

The focal length is one of the parameters of the Lens, which is not changeable usually. (Except for some vary-focus Lens)

The default focus distance of this camera is 10cm~inf. But you can use some tools like Focus Ring for stock Lenses to adjust the focus manually.

thanks for the info. Is the mimimum focus distance adjustable using a Focus Ring or stock lens to be < 10 cm or is that not possible?

I am sorry for my previous confusion words, some fixed-focus stock lenses are supported to adjust the minimum focus distance using a Focus Ring. We have tested some stock lenses before so we can ensure that. However, frankly, the stock Lens with the motor may not be supported to adjust the focus manually cause it may hurt the motor function. Therefore, to ensure the security of the entire Lens component, the focus range was set once it was produced.

Just to clarify, does the IMX519 quad kit array cameras has a stock lens, that has a fixed focus range of 10 cm - infinity?

Does the current lens on the cameras not enable the adjustment of the minimum focus distance? Would I not be able to simply attach a focus ring to it to decrease the minimum focus distance?

To adjust the minimum focus distance < 10 cm, would I have to remove the lens from the cameras and add another lens that can be used with a focus ring?

  1. The camera used in the IMX519 quad camera kit is the same as the B0371 (IMX519 monocular camera). The default focus range is 10cm-inf.
  2. The lens used in the IMX519 autofocus camera does not support focus adjustment since focusing will damage the motor. You cannot use the focus ring to adjust the focus.
  3. It is not recommended to do so because the lens and motor are a whole. If used in this way, it may cause damage to the original parts. For this type of autofocus + stock lens camera, it is not recommended to manually focus through the focus ring.

  2. Does the manual focus (libcamera and rpicam-apps - Arducam Wiki) adjustment not count as a focus adjustment? Are you saying that the minimum focus distance cannot be adjusted, but the focus adjustment of the camera to slightly different lens position again (pos 1 - 15)?
