IMX519 driver installation on Jetson Nano: corresponding deb package not found

Hey everyone, I’m a bit stuck. I set up a brand new NVIDIA Jetson Nano Developer Kit and I’m trying to get my Arducam IMX519 camera working. I did the same driver install on another Jetson Nano about two weeks ago and it went fine, so I’m not sure what changed. On this new board the installer runs and then spits out red text:

Cannot find the corresponding deb package, please send the following information to [email protected]
Kernel version: 4.9.337-tegra-32.7.4-20230608212426
Jetson type: NVIDIA Jetson Nano Developer Kit

Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks for posting the exact error. That kernel string is useful. Can you confirm what uname -r returns on the new board? Also, do you know which JetPack/L4T image was on the older Nano that worked? I have a feeling this new board is on a newer L4T revision and the installer may not have a matching package for it yet.

uname -r returns:

4.9.337-tegra-32.7.4-20230608212426

so it matches what the installer printed. I don’t have the old board handy right now to check its exact version, but it was a JetPack image I’d been using for a while, definitely not this new. The camera itself worked there after the same install steps, so I assumed it would be the same on this one.

Thanks, that confirms it. The problem is the L4T/JetPack version. Your new Nano is running L4T 32.7.4, and the Arducam IMX519 driver has not been released for 32.7.4 yet. The install script looks for a deb package that matches your kernel version, and because that package doesn’t exist in the supported set, it fails with the ‘Cannot find the corresponding deb package’ message. Your older board was almost certainly on a supported L4T version, which is why the same steps worked there.

That makes sense. Is there any way to force the installer to use a package from a nearby version, or edit the script to skip the version check? I’d rather not wipe the board if I don’t have to.

I wouldn’t recommend forcing it. The driver package is matched to a specific kernel/L4T release, so grabbing a package for a different version can leave you with kernel module build failures or a camera that doesn’t initialize. Right now the workaround is to reflash the Jetson Nano to a JetPack/L4T version that is listed as supported for the IMX519 camera. The supported versions are in the Arducam Jetson camera docs here:

https://docs.arducam.com/Nvidia-Jetson-Camera/Introduction-to-Arducam-Jetson-Cameras/

In short: on L4T 32.7.4 there is no matching deb package yet, so the installer will keep failing until you’re on one of the supported images. Once you reflash to a supported version, the same install steps should find the package.
