IMX477 camera not detected on /dev/video* with brand-new Jetson while IMX519 works

Hi everyone, I’m stuck with a brand-new Jetson setup. I have an IMX519 camera that gets detected just fine, but my IMX477 camera doesn’t show up at all under /dev/video*. I’ve double-checked the ribbon cable seating and power cycles, but the IMX477 still won’t appear. Any ideas what’s going on?

Thanks for the report. So just to confirm the setup: this is a brand-new Jetson, and you’re testing an IMX519 alongside an IMX477? Are you plugging them into the same CSI port one at a time, or using different ports? Which Jetson model is this exactly (Nano, Xavier NX, etc.)?

Yes, brand-new Jetson. I’m testing the cameras one at a time on the same port. The IMX519 shows up under /dev/video*, but when I swap in the IMX477, there’s nothing there. The IMX477 itself is also brand-new.

Got it. Since the IMX519 enumerates on /dev/video* but the IMX477 doesn’t, it’s likely something in the IMX477 detection path rather than the port itself. Before we dig into guesses, I need some diagnostic data from the device so we can see what’s happening at the driver level.

Please run the Arducam camera bug report tool. Reboot the device first, then run these commands:

wget -O arducam-camera-bug-report-nvidia https://github.com/ketai-dhr/arducam-camera-bug-report/releases/download/tools/arducam-camera-bug-report-nvidia
chmod +x ./arducam-camera-bug-report-nvidia
./arducam-camera-bug-report-nvidia

That will generate an arducam-bug-report.txt file in the current directory. Send that file back to me as an attachment.

Okay, I downloaded the tool, made it executable, and ran it. It finished and produced arducam-bug-report.txt in my current directory. It looks like a pretty long text file with driver and device info. Do you want me to paste the whole thing here, or is there a better way to send it?

Don’t paste the whole thing into the thread, it’ll be huge. I’ve sent you a private message with where to attach the file. Please send the arducam-bug-report.txt that way.

To summarize where we are: the IMX519 enumerates on /dev/video* while the IMX477 does not. We haven’t found the root cause yet. The bug report tool collects the device and driver information needed to diagnose why the IMX477 isn’t being enumerated, so once you send that file over I’ll review it and we can take the next step from there.
