IMX477 camera driver installation issues on kernel 4.9.253-32.7.1

Hi everyone, I’m stuck trying to get my IMX477 camera working. The driver install keeps failing and the camera never shows up properly. Has anyone run into this on a Jetson setup?

Hey, sorry you’re hitting that. Can you share a bit more about the system you’re on? Board model and kernel version would help narrow things down.

Sure. It’s an Nvidia Jetson board running kernel 4.9.253-32.7.1-20220219090432. I mainly need the correct drivers so the IMX477 actually works. If there’s a link or some install steps, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks, that’s helpful. For the IMX477 on Jetson with that kernel, the official Arducam documentation covers exactly this. You’re looking for the 12MP IMX477 section of the native camera Quick Start Guide.

Got it. Just to be clear, should I be following the native camera path rather than some generic driver install? I was trying random driver packages before and nothing worked.

Right, the native camera path is the correct one for this camera on the Jetson platform. The path to find the right section is: Nvidia Jetson Camera → Native Camera → Quick Start Guide → 12MP IMX477 Camera. You can jump straight to it here: Quick-Start-Guide - Arducam Wiki — that guide walks through the driver setup and install steps specific to the 12MP IMX477, so follow that section and it should get the camera recognized.
