Hi everyone, I’m trying to get my Arducam USB 4K IMX219 camera working from the command line on Linux and I’m honestly not sure where to start. I’ve got the camera plugged in, but I don’t know what tools I need or how to actually capture anything from the terminal. Any general guidance on using this camera would be really helpful too.
Hi there, thanks for posting. Just to make sure I point you in the right direction, can you confirm which OS you’re on? I’m assuming Linux from your message, but I want to double-check before I start throwing links at you.
Yes, sorry, I should have been clearer. I’m running Linux.
No problem at all. For Linux, the Arducam UVC camera quick-start documentation is the right place to begin. In particular, there’s a section called “Install v4l Utility Packages” that covers installing the v4l utilities you’ll need for command line use with the USB 4K IMX219. Once those packages are installed, you’ll be able to work with the camera from the terminal for capturing and general usage.
That sounds exactly like what I need. Do you happen to have a direct link to that part of the docs?
Sure, here’s the direct link: Redirecting...
To summarize: for setting up your Arducam USB 4K IMX219 from the command line on Linux, the key step is following the “Install v4l Utility Packages” section in that Linux quick-start guide. It walks through getting the required v4l utilities installed, which is what you need to start using the camera from the terminal.
