Hi everyone. I’m trying to install the Arducam camera driver on my Jetson Nano and the installer keeps failing with an error. I followed the setup guide but it stops partway through the process. Has anyone run into this on the Nano?
Hey, welcome to the forum. Can you share a few details so we can narrow this down? Specifically the output of uname -r, which Jetson board you’re on, and the actual error text from the terminal if you have it.
Sure. The board is an NVIDIA Jetson Nano Development Kit. Kernel is 4.9.337-tegra-32.7.4-20230608212426. The install script gets to the point where it’s compiling the camera module and then it just errors out. I can grab the full log if that helps.
Thanks. That kernel string tells me you’re running L4T 32.7.4. Before we dig into the compile error itself, I think I already see the bigger issue here.
Looking into this, the Arducam camera driver hasn’t actually been released for L4T 32.7.4 yet. So no matter how clean the install script is, it won’t build or load correctly on that version. The error you’re seeing is a symptom of that, not something you did wrong.
Ah, that would explain it. So what’s the best way forward? I’d rather not stay stuck on this version if the driver needs something else.
Right, the fix is to reflash the JetPack to one of the versions Arducam actually supports. Their supported list is in the docs here: Introduction to Arducam Jetson Cameras - Arducam Wiki. Burn one of those versions onto the Nano, then rerun the driver install.
Got it. Just to make sure I understand - it’s the L4T/JetPack version that determines driver support, not the board model itself?
Exactly. Driver availability is tied to the L4T/JetPack version. Your Nano itself is fine; it’s just that 32.7.4 isn’t on the supported list for this camera driver yet. Once you’re on a supported version, the same install steps should work. Summary: reflash to a supported JetPack from that docs page, then retry the install.
