Focus slider does nothing and autofocus not working on Arducam 8MP IMX179 Windows 10

Hey, I have an Arducam 8MP IMX179 Autofocus UVC camera and the autofocus just won’t work on Windows 10 64-bit. It’s never worked since I got it. I’ve already tried different USB ports and different PCs with no luck. Any ideas?

Hi, sorry you’re hitting this. Could you record a short video of the problem? Also, have you tested the camera with AMCap.exe at all? That would help us tell whether it’s the autofocus itself or something in the app.

Sure. The main symptom is the focus slider — when I move it, nothing happens. It doesn’t move or change focus at all. Autofocus isn’t adjusting either. Like I said, tried multiple USB ports and multiple systems already.

Thanks. Could you take a video while you drag the focus slider? I’ve attached a screenshot showing the slider I mean so we’re looking at the same control.

Here you go. Video: 2023-05-24 06-44-25.mkv and screenshot: image_13483243271684912944382.png. Adjusting the focus slider produces no movement or focus change. I’ve used other Arducam products before and they worked fine, but this unit doesn’t.

Thanks, that’s helpful. This looks like a firmware issue with the autofocus. Please update the camera firmware following the guide video. If you can’t locate the firmware file, let me know and I’ll send it over.

I’m trying to follow the update instructions but I can’t find the firmware file anywhere. Could you send me a direct link?

I’ve sent you the firmware package through private message. Please check your messages, download it, and follow the guide video to update the camera firmware. Let me know if the autofocus behaves after that.
