Hi everyone. I’m trying to get an ArduCam IMX477 camera running on a Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kit. I’m on JetPack 6 (36.3). I’ve been following the Quick Start Guide from the docs, but I keep running into errors partway through the install and it never seems to finish cleanly. I attached a screenshot of the error I’m seeing. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong in the guide or if this is a driver problem.
Thanks for the details and the screenshot. Before going further down the Quick Start path, could you try enabling the Nvidia native IMX477 driver through Jetson IO? Run:
sudo /opt/nvidia/jetson-io/jetson-io.py
Then follow the steps here to enable the imx477 driver:
https://docs.arducam.com/Nvidia-Jetson-Camera/Application-note/Jetson-io/#step-1-select-configure-jetson-nano-csi-connector-and-hit-enter-on-your-keyboard
The IMX477 can be enabled through the Nvidia native driver using the Jetson IO configuration tool, so it’s worth trying that instead of relying only on the Quick Start Guide steps.
Thanks, that makes sense. One thing I want to get straight before I go further: I just reset the Orin Nano back to a clean state. Should I go through the Quick Start Guide first and only switch to Jetson IO once I hit the same error again, or should I skip the Quick Start steps and run the Jetson IO setup on the clean device right away?
Go straight to the Jetson IO setup and skip the Quick Start Guide steps for now. Once you finish the Jetson IO setup, reboot the board so the change takes effect. After the reboot, you can use the gstreamer commands from the Quick Start Guide. So the sequence is: Jetson IO first, then reboot, then the gstreamer commands.
Okay, so I tried running:
sudo /opt/nvidia/jetson-io/jetson-io.py
but the panel never actually opens. The command starts and then nothing appears on screen. I attached a screenshot of what I’m seeing after running it.
On a normally functioning Orin Nano that script should open the Jetson IO panel without issue. If it doesn’t open at all, that’s pointing toward a problem with the unit itself rather than the camera setup or the guide. Do you have access to another Jetson Orin Nano you could test against? That would help confirm whether the behavior is specific to this board.
