Does the ToF camera support Raspberry Pi 5 (Bookworm or Trixie)?

Regarding the ArduAm ToF camera (B0410):
I run Arducam_tof_camera/build/example/cpp/example on a Raspberry Pi 5 (Bookworm).
Three windows are displayed, but the image is completely black.
I tried this on slot 0 and slot 1.

It runs without problems on a Raspberry Pi 4 (Bookworm).

If there are any tips for getting it to work on a Raspberry Pi 5, please let me know.

Hi there,
Can the Raspberry Pi 5 provide enough 5V from the GPIO?

Thank you for your reply.

The AC adapter’s output specifications are 5.1V, 5.0A.

I’m supplying 5V to the ArduCam ToF camera from the Raspberry Pi 5’s GPIO pins, but I don’t have the tools to verify whether the 5V pin is actually outputting 5V.

Should it be working correctly with the Raspberry Pi 5?

Hi there,
Is it possible to arrange a remote meeting with you? Please let me know if you’re comfortable with it and when you’re available.

Thank you for your reply and the suggestion for a remote meeting.
I’m not fluent in English conversation, but I can chat using Google Translate. I live in Japan. I’m available anytime, as long as it’s not late at night.

I will describe my situation in detail below.

The ToF camera ribbon cable is plugged into “CAM/DISP 0”.
I made sure the ribbon cable’s metal contacts were properly connected to the metal inside the connector.
Using a multimeter, the voltage between GPIO pins 4 and 6 is 4.97V.

I performed the following steps immediately after installing the OS.

The OS version is as follows:

uname -a
Linux raspberrypi 6.12.75+rpt-rpi-2712 #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 1:6.12.75-1+rpt1~bookworm (2026-03-11) aarch64 GNU/Linux

The ToF camera software was installed as instructed on the official website, as follows:

git clone https://github.com/ArduCAM/Arducam_tof_camera.git
cd Arducam_tof_camera
./Install_dependencies.sh
./compile.sh

The contents of /boot/firmware/config.txt are as follows.

tail /boot/firmware/config.txt
# This line should be removed if the legacy DWC2 controller is required
# (e.g. for USB device mode) or if USB support is not required.
otg_mode=1

[cm5]
dtoverlay=dwc2,dr_mode=host

[all]
dtoverlay=arducam-pivariety
dtoverlay=arducam-pivariety,cam0

When I run the sample program, the preview window appears, but the preview image is completely black.

./build/example/cpp/preview_depth

Additionally, I’ll provide the dmesg output.
It shows that the firmware version is 0x10002.
This confirms that the ribbon cable is properly connected.

Hi @URA_Masahisa
Thanks for the detailed dmesg logs.
We’re actively working on it and will update you once we make some progress.

Hi @URA_Masahisa
Are you available tomorrow at 2 PM(Japan Time)? If so, we can have a meeting then.

Thank you for your reply, Dion.
I apologize for the late response.
Please reschedule the meeting time.
I will be out for work on May 18th and 19th, so please choose a different day.

Hi @URA_Masahisa
Will you be available at 2 PM on May 20th? If so, let’s schedule a meeting at that time.

Hi Dion,

Yes, I’m available at 2 PM on May 20th. Let’s do that!
Looking forward to it.

Best,
Masahisa

Hi Dion,
It’s time, should I wait here?

Hi,
Please join the following meeting:

Hi @URA_Masahisa
Please install AnyDesk on your PC or Raspberry Pi 5, so I can remote into your device.

Here’s the guidance on how to update the firmware for ToF camera.
Troubleshooting – Arducam ToF Camera - Arducam Wiki.html (201.7 KB)

I can not open the link.

I obtained the following link from HTML, but this link is broken.
Arducam_ToF_B0410_Firmware_Update_Tool
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gO-Nec6wX-Pef_7r4Xbv9rcVyxwc2C3w/view?usp=sharing

One sec. I’m checking on it.

Try this one.

The firmware version is 0x10002. It has been explicitly stated that this version is outdated.

I would like to negotiate with the seller to exchange it for a newer version. Please tell me the firmware version that works with Raspberry Pi 5.
