Hi all, I’m running into an issue with one of my Arducam 16MP Autofocus USB Cameras (SKU B029001 — the mini metal case version with the IMX298). I filled out the technical support form and included a screenshot, but I figured I’d post here too. One unit just won’t behave like the others. Has anyone seen these B029001 units go bad out of the box?
Hey, welcome. Just so we’re on the same page, this is the B029001: 16MP autofocus, 1/2.8" IMX298, UVC USB2.0, 4K video, with microphone, on the 3.3ft cable, right? I can see the support form and the screenshot you attached. What OS are you testing on — Windows, Linux, Mac, Android — and what does the unit actually do when you plug it in? Not detected at all, or detected but no image?
Correct, that’s the exact model. I’ve tried it on Windows 11 and also on a Linux machine. The other units enumerate as standard UVC cameras without any issue, but this particular one doesn’t come up properly — it won’t enumerate as a normal UVC device. The screenshot I attached shows what I’m seeing.
Thanks, that narrows it down quite a bit. That kind of failure to enumerate on the B029001 usually isn’t a driver problem — it points to the firmware on the camera itself being corrupted. I’d start by reflashing the firmware on the problem unit. I’ve sent you the guide video link through private message, so check your inbox. It walks through burning the firmware onto the B029001.
Got the link, thanks. I’ll go through the video and try the reflash. Anything special I need besides the camera and a USB port, or is it all covered in the guide?
Everything you need should be in the guide — just follow it step by step with the defective unit. Once you’ve burned the firmware, plug it back in and test. If it still won’t enumerate as a UVC device, report back here and we’ll keep working from there.
